The efforts for a ceasefire in the Gaza war are ongoing. US President Donald Trump is confident that an agreement will succeed.
According to US President Donald Trump, Islamist Hamas wants an agreement with Israel in the Gaza War. “You want to meet and you want to do this ceasefire,” said Trump at the beginning of a dinner together with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House. He had been asked by journalists present whether unconfirmed reports about an incident in northern Gazas with Israeli victims would affect the ongoing placement talks. “I don’t think,” said Trump.
At the current state of indirect conversations about a ceasefire and the release of hostages, the US special representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, said that there is the opportunity to reach an agreement quickly. According to the White House, he will travel to the Qatarian capital Doha this week to take part in the placement talks. The spokeswoman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, did not call one date. According to information from the “Times of Israel”, he still breaks up today.
Leavitt praised Qatar and Egypt as “incredibly helpful partners in the mediation of these negotiations and discussions in order to bring peace to this region and to end this conflict once and for all”.
