Just a week ago, a partial delivery stop from US weapons to Ukraine had become public. President Donald Trump assures Kyiv further support.
US President Donald Trump wants to continue supplying Ukraine with weapons despite a recently known part. When asked by a journalist whether he intended to deliver further weapons to Ukraine, the Republican said: “We will send more weapons. We have to be able to defend themselves. They are very difficult to do.” It should primarily be defense weapons.
It was not until last Tuesday that the United States had stopped the delivery of some of the weapons that have already been promised – including anti -aircraft missiles – to Ukraine. The US Department of Defense said that the United States was to check its own skills-and also stopped help for other countries.
Trump spoke out again for a quick end of the war. The war is a terrible thing. He hate it when people were killed like in Ukraine and Russia. He was not happy with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump emphasized: “I can end.”
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for more than three years. Moscow’s military has been trying to overload the neighboring country’s air defense.
After Trump talk: Selenskyj wants to change ambassador
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj Trump is apparently accommodating a media report with an important personnel decision. The “Financial Times”, citing two people familiar with the matter, reported that the two heads of state had agreed in a phone call to replace the Ukrainian ambassador in the USA, Oxana Markarowa. Your teams would carry out further consultations about possible candidates that should be checked on both sides.
The US portal Bloomberg also reported, citing a person familiar with the matter, that the two presidents had spoken about the ambassador to replace the ambassador on Friday.
Markarowa, who has been working as an ambassador in Washington since 2021, was accused of too much by some Republicans to the Democrats. Her discharge could be an attempt to appease Trump in a time sensitive to Ukraine.
Large cabinet conversion planned in Ukraine
In the coming week, Selenskyj wants to announce the Markarowa personnel as part of a large cabinet conversion, as the newspaper reported to circles. Since the beginning of the war, Selenskyj has been reorganizing his cabinet several times.
A high -ranking Ukrainian official told the newspaper that Selenskyj wanted to appoint a “good negotiator” as an ambassador who “is understandable for the White House and at the same time for the congress”. According to the report, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal and Defense Minister Rustem Umjerow should be candidates for the successor.
The former EU diplomat in Kiev, Balaz’s Jarabik, told the newspaper that the personnel changes were a known reaction to the growing political, economic and social pressure. “The transformation does not indicate a change in the strategic orientation, but seems to be destroyed to contain the dissatisfaction, to convey a feeling of renewal and maintain control in the middle of the growing pressure on several fronts.”
Ukraine plans to expand drone production
Selenskyj announced an expansion of drone production together with the allies for the post -war period. “We also work with our partners to ensure that production in your countries is as efficient as possible – for our joint defense now and for the time after the war – for the arsenal of our partners,” said the head of state in his video message.
The cooperation takes place with all countries that can help with investments, individual parts and production facilities. “Step by step”, financing gaps for the production of drones and interceptors would be closed. Just last week, Kyiv had signed new drones in Denmark.
Selenskyj announced a meeting of the so -called “coalition of the willing” led by Great Britain and France around the reconstruction conference planned in Rome on Thursday and Friday. The main topic is the air defense and in particular the defense against drone attacks. “Everyone in the world can see how much Russia depends on the use of Shahed drones. There are only a few options left for them to extend the war, and Russian-Iranian drones are one of them,” said Selenskyj.
