In the case of an EU mission against the Huthi militia, in which the Bundeswehr is involved, there was apparently an “unacceptable” incident with China. The Federal Foreign Office reacted.
During the EU mission against the Huthi militia in the Red Sea, a German plane has been targeted by laser, according to the foreign office of China.
As the Federal Foreign Office continued, the Chinese ambassador was ordered due to the incident on Tuesday. “The endangerment of German personnel and the disorder of the operation are completely unacceptable,” it said.
At the request of the AFP news agency, a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Defense said that the Laser Use “accepted a risk to people and material”. After the incident, the German reconnaissance flyer’s deployment flight was canceled as a precaution. The machine had landed safely on the basis of the contingent in jibuti, the crew was well. In the meantime, the plane has resumed its use.

Details of the incident were initially not communicated. According to information from the dpa news agency, the incident occurred in early July when a German plane was on the road for a surveillance flight over the sea area. It was found that a Laser was directed to the machine by a Chinese warship. The illustration of a laser is at least a threatening gesture in the military.
Up to 700 German armed forces take part in the EU-led Operation Eunavfor Aspides in the Red Sea. The assignment is intended to protect the important trade route against attacks by the Yemeni Huthi militia, which has been attacking merchant ships since the beginning of the Gaza war. At the end of January, the Bundestag had extended German participation in the mission.
The Huthis always attack ships in the Red Sea and in the Gulf of Aden as well as destinations in Israel with drones and rockets. In addition to the Hamas prevailing in the Gaza Strip and the Hisbollah in Lebanon, the militia counts among the “axis of resistance” listed by Iran and directed against Israel and the USA.
