Report: Trump is considering delivery of aircraft system to Kyiv

US President Trump seems to change his course towards Russia. And according to a report, now considering an urgent request from Ukraine.

According to a media report, US President Donald Trump is considering sending Ukraine an additional Patriot air defense system in view of the massive Russian attacks. This reported the “Wall Street Journal” (WSJ), citing two civil servants. Accordingly, the White House asked the Pentagon for the delivery for the delivery of additional weapons, including a patriot system. It would be the first time that Trump approved the delivery of a larger weapon system to Kiev, which goes beyond the number approved by the government of its predecessor Joe Biden.

On Tuesday, Trump had angrily showed himself over Russian President Vladimir Putin and accused him of serving “a lot of nonsense”. Before that, he had spoken out again for a quick end of the Russian war of attack against Ukraine and emphasized that he was not happy with Putin at all. Therefore, the United States would send some defense weapons to Ukraine – he had approved it. Last week it was said that the USA stopped the delivery of some of the weapons that have already been promised – including anti -aircraft missiles.

Ukraine urgently needs patriot systems

So far, the United States has provided three patriot systems, Germany has delivered another three and a consortium of European countries has sent one, a former Pentagon official said according to “WSJ”. However, not all of them are ready for use for maintenance work at the same time. Ukraine urgently needs Patriot aircraft systems in order to better protect themselves from the constant Russian air and rocket attacks. According to WSJ, it is also checked whether other countries Kiev could provide other patriot systems.

The patriot flight defense rocket system produced in the USA is one of the most modern in the world. With it, enemy aircraft, ballistic rockets and marching missiles are combated. At a distance of about 100 kilometers and at heights of 30 kilometers, the defense rockets in a thought bell can hit goals – depending on the steering aircraft used. With a radar, the Patriot system initially classifies which flight objects belong to the enemy in the sky. In the event of a threat, soldiers in the control center fire the steering aircraft to make the goals harmless.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for more than three years. Moscow’s military has been trying to overload the neighboring country’s air defense.
