Carola Racketete became known as the captain of the “Sea Watch 3”, with whom she saved refugees from the Mediterranean. The activist became a politician – at least for a short time.
The refugee and climate activist Carola Rackete wants to hand in her mandate for the left in the European Parliament. “My candidacy and my mandate had the goal from the start to contribute to the renewal of the party – a process that is successful,” she said, according to a message. “As a person from social movements, my team and I discussed from the start to make the mandate collective.” This is now done by submitting your mandate. Her successor should be Martin Günther from Brandenburg.
