Public administration employees in the Czech Republic have to do without the help of the AI-based chatbots Deepseek. The government in Prague sees the app from China as a security risk.
The Czech Republic prohibits the use of the Chinese Ki chatbots Deepseek in state authorities and institutions. This is an important step to strengthen the cyber security of his country, said Prime Minister Petr Fiala after a cabinet meeting in Prague. According to the information, the ban applies to all products and web services of the AI developer Deepseek.
The decision was made on the basis of an analysis by the national authority for cyber and information security, it said. The step was justified with the concern with the concern that the Chinese state could gain access to sensitive data if it is saved and processed on servers in China. A chatbot is an application that usually has a conversation with people in natural language with the help of artificial intelligence.
Data protection concerns
In Germany, too, authorities and experts have registered concerns about data protection in AI use. In the United States, several federal authorities such as NASA and the Ministry of Defense have already prohibited their employees to use the Deepseek app. Some US states such as Texas and countries such as Australia and Taiwan have banned Deepseek on government devices.
