The coalition relies on a number of tightening in asylum policy. The Bundestag was now about two of these measures.
Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) presented two more components of his “migration turn” in the Bundestag shortly before the parliamentary summer break. People who threaten deportation or threatens to travel should no longer be entitled to a state -financed lawyer who supports them in maintaining their rights.
The state’s legal assistance has existed since 2024
This claim had only been introduced last year, as part of the so-called return improvement law of the then traffic light coalition, with which, among other things, the maximum duration of the exit cereal was extended. Due to the compulsory intent, the law became a “return disabilities law”, said Dobrindt. With the deletion of this claim, one recommendation from the Ministry of Justice Ministers follow, the domestic spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group, Sebastian Fiedler, emphasized.
Safe countries of origin by law
For the first time, the Bundestag also advised the opportunity to classify states by law as so -called safe countries of origin. This means that the Federal Council would not have to agree. This is made possible by the relatively small group of those seeking protection who apply for politically persecuted asylum here. “States are not sure because they want it,” said Helge Limburg (Greens) to the address of the Federal Minister of the Interior.
Maghreb countries and India first
In their coalition agreement, the CDU, CSU and SPD had agreed to start the classification of Algeria, India, Morocco and Tunisia as safe countries of origin. Appropriate initiatives have failed in the Federal Council on the resistance of countries with government participation of the Greens and the left.
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) generally rejects asylum applications from people from the countries, which are considered to be safe countries of origin. However, this does not rule out the recognition of protection status in individual cases. However, rejected applicants can be deported easier and faster.
In Germany, safe countries of origin are currently considered in addition to the Member States of the European Union of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ghana, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Senegal, Serbia, Georgia and Moldova. The classification is intended to reduce irregular migration from these countries.
Christian Wirth (AfD) said the draft is going in the right direction, but was “despondent”.
