With a view to Russia, Chancellor Merz sees the “means of diplomacy exhausted”. This causes displeasure in Moscow. Now Putin’s Foreign Minister Lawrow is also expressed.
Moscow Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) to use anti-Russian solutions such as in Nazi times-supposedly just to militarize Germany.
Sergei Lawrow is the country’s Foreign Minister, which has been waging a destructive war against Ukraine for more than three years. It was “complete nonsense” to describe Russia as a danger, Lawrow now said in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. “I hope that every politician understands this with common sense.” Merz chose a course of militarization in Germany, said the minister and criticized that the Chancellor no longer sees “means of diplomacy” to Moscow.
Sergei Lawrow makes the Chancellor’s hard allegations
“If Mr. Merz believes that the peaceful possibilities are exhausted, he must have decided to devote himself entirely to Germany’s militarization at the expense of his people, in order to then ride around Nazi slogans again-for a defense against the threats that went from Russia,” said Lavrov. He commented on a press conference of the Foreign Ministers’ meeting of the Southeast Asian community of Asean.
Merz repeatedly triggers sharp reactions in Moscow with his statements on Russia and sees itself exposed to Nazi comparison. Moscow accuses the Chancellor of increasingly relying on a military solution to the Ukraine conflict and increasing Germany more and more into war.
Friedrich Merz: “Department of diplomacy exhausted”
The Chancellor had said on Wednesday in the Bundestag about the Russian attack war against Ukraine: “The means of diplomacy are exhausted when a criminal regime with military violence is open to the existence of an entire country and sets itself out to destroy the political freedom of freedom of the entire European continent.”
Russia has been waging the war against Ukraine since the beginning of 2022. According to Moscow, Moscow wants to prevent Kiev, for example, because this is a threat to Russia’s security. In addition, Russia also raises area claims to the neighbor.
