From Karl Lauterbach to Markus Söder: Anyone who turns on the political talk shows on public television have been seen for years.
No other politician or journalist has been a guest on talk shows more often in the past ten years than the former SPD health minister Karl Lauterbach. This is the result of a data analysis of the “Spiegel” presented at the weekend, in which, according to the magazine, all guests of the large public-law talk formats have been taken into account since 2015.

Accordingly, Lauterbach came up to 119 appearances. In second place, ZDF journalist Elmar Theveßen was able to place with 113 appearances. The “Welt” journalist Robin Alexander follows in third place with 109 appearances. Fourth place went to the CDU foreign policy expert Norbert Röttgen (97 appearances). And CSU boss Markus Söder (90 appearances) achieved fifth place.
The programs of Markus Lanz, Maybrit Illner, Caren Miosga and Anne Will as well as “hard but fair” were taken into account in the survey. Together, according to “Spiegel”, the talk shows have had 2932 editions. 3992 different people were guests there.
