Donald Trump would have fallen victim to an assassination attempt at an election campaign event in Pennsylvania. The US Senate has now submitted its report on the incident.
A year after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, violent allegations against the bodyguards of the then presidential candidate come from the US Senate. The Secret Service failed to share important information about a suspicious person and the threat situation with Trump’s bodyguards, it said in a final report of a committee in the US Senate. “When planning and implementing the Butler event on July 13th there were several unacceptable mistakes.”
A year ago, a shooter at an election campaign event in Butler in the state of Pennsylvania shot from a nearby roof on Trump and injured him on the right ear. One visitor died, two more were injured. The perpetrator was killed by security forces.
The suspect was reported to the Secret Service at least 25 minutes before the attack, the report said. The coordination and communication between Secret Service and the state and local law enforcement authorities have “serious defects”. This started with the preparation and continued up to the execution of the event. “It wasn’t a single mistake. It was a cascade of an avoidable mistake that President Trump almost cost life,” it said.
