US President Donald Trump says he will send the Patriot Air defense missiles to Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump has announced that Ukraine provide patriot defense systems. “We will send you Patriots who urgently need you,” said Trump, who had stopped important arms deliveries to Ukraine just two weeks ago, on Sunday. At first he did not provide any information on how many patriot systems the Ukraine should receive.
Trump claims to sell Patriot weapons systems to the European Union so that it can be delivered to Ukraine. “The EU pays for it. We don’t pay anything, but we will deliver,” he said. Trump did not say exactly which countries should pay for the patriot system.
The coming hours could be crucial for the further support of Ukraine in the war against Russia: Trump spoke of a meeting on Monday (10 a.m. local time) to NATO general secretary Mark Rutte. According to a US media report, Trump also wants to make an explanation on his Russia policy today. In addition, Trump’s special representative Keith Kellogg is expected today for talks in Kyiv. In addition, Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) in Washington wants to talk about the further support of Ukraine.
Ukraine asked Trump for patriot system
Ukraine has asked the United States to sell its other patriot rockets and systems that it considers to be decisive for the defense of its cities against the increasing Russian air raids.
A few days ago, Trump told NBC that the United States would provide Ukraine weapons in the future. “We send weapons to NATO and NATO will reimburse the full costs of these weapons.” Whether this also applies to the missiles now announced remained open at first.
Germany wants to buy air defense systems of the Patriot air defense systems to make them available to Ukraine against Russia in the war. Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) announced this day ago in Rome.

Trump has tried to bring Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table for months. “He kept the door open with regard to Russia – this door is to close,” said Graham. Putin expected the United States and Europe tired. “He made a big mistake.”
