Terrorism: terrorist plans at Swift concert: Possible helper in court

Around a year after the cancellation of Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna, for fear of a terrorist attack, the trial against a suspected IS supporter began in Berlin. The now 15-year-old is said to have helped prepare an attack. The federal prosecutor accuses him of supporting a terrorist association abroad and preparing a serious act of violence.

For fear of terrorist attacks, the organizers had canceled three immediately upcoming concerts by the US pop star Taylor Swift in Vienna. This was preceded by the arrest of two suspects – including a 19 -year -old, who, according to the police, planned attacks in the Vienna area.

The 15-year-old, who stands in front of the Berlin Chamber Court, is said to be an accomplice. The Syrian is said to have been in contact with the young man from Austria from mid -July to August 2024.

The defendant is said to have translated bomb construction instructions

The young person helped the Austrian by translating a bomb building man from Arabic and contacting a member of the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) abroad, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said at the end of June. In addition, the then 14-year-old is said to have sent him a text template for the loyalty rig on IS that he is said to have used in order to join the organization as a member.

The trial before the Berlin Chamber of Chamber takes place without publicity. Because the accused is still a minor, the Senate excluded spectators before the indictment was read out, as a court spokeswoman said.

So far, a total of seven days of negotiations have been planned for the process. According to the federal prosecutor, the now 15-year-old is at large.

Investigations continue in Austria

Against the main suspect, who is in custody, it is currently still being determined how the Vienna public prosecutor’s office announced to the German Press Agency. In Austria, no further alleged accomplices are known to the investigators.
