Trump increases pressure on Putin – why he is reducing
At first Trump is increasingly annoyed by Putin because of the attack on Ukraine, now he is threatening Russia with economic consequences – should not soon be a deal. What does that mean?
US President Donald Trump sets a deadline for Russia President Vladimir Putin: If there was no deal within 50 days of the end of the Russian war against Ukraine, the USA would raise high tariffs against Russia’s trading partner. This was announced by the Republican at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the White House, where both arms delivered for Ukraine confirmed.
Trump is taking a political change of course in his attitude to the war of Russia against Ukraine, which began three and a half years ago.
Which tariffs are it about?
Trump did not provide any detailed information. He spoke of “secondary physicians”, ie of tariffs against Russia’s trading partners of around 100 percent. Who are the biggest trading partners in Russia?

Germany is currently massively committed, but also countries such as Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, the Netherlands and Canada. “They all want to be part of it – and that’s only the first wave – there will be more,” said the Dutch. The NATO structures will determine the exact need for Ukraine in order to be able to put packages with “with speed and pragmatism”.
To the Patriot systems, Trump said there was a country that has 17 of these systems that are already for shipping. You work on a deal to send the 17 or a large part of it to Poland. Trump did not say which country it is.
But the United States has also delivered itself in the past few months?
Yes. However, these were deliveries that had been initiated by Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden during the term. Since its start in January, however, there have been no new major military aid packages from the United States for Ukraine.
At times, Trump even had the US military aid for Ukraine exposed. Most recently, Trump struck more positive tones towards Selenskyj. A meeting at the end of last month on the edge of the NATO summit with Selenskyj, for example, described Trump as a “very good meeting”. The Ukrainian President fights “a very brave war,” he emphasized.
