US President Donald Trump is increasingly standing on the side of Ukraine. From Russia, mocking tones of influential politicians are now coming.
In Russia, senior politicians have reacted to the arms deliveries for Ukraine and threatened sanctions announced by US President Donald Trump. “If that is all Trump wanted to say about Ukraine today, the expectations have so far been set too high,” wrote the Vice Office of the Russian Federation Council, Konstantin Kossatschev, on Monday evening at Telegram. He said that Trump’s explanation for the Ukraine conflict would not influence the mood in Russia.
In 50 days, which Trump called as ultimatum, a lot could change on the battlefield and in the mood in the leadership of the United States and NATO, wrote Kossatschev. The Europeans were Washington into the trap, could now buy weapons from Trump for Ukraine, “while only the military-industrial complex of the United States will benefit from it”.
Russia’s ex-President Medvedev: “Theatrical Ultimatum”
Russia’s ex-President Dmitri Medvedev described Trump’s statements on Tuesday as a “theatrical ultimatum to the Kremlin”. The world had trembled because of the feared consequences that the arguments of Europeans were disappointed, “Russia didn’t care”, wrote, as the vice -chief of the National Security Council in Moscow, still wrote to influential politicians on platform X in Trump’s words.
Trump had struck new tones towards Russia on Monday after around six months of mediation efforts in the Ukraine War. He was disappointed by Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin, he said. He announced new arms deliveries for Ukraine to pay the European NATO countries. In addition, he threatened punitive tariffs against Russia’s trading partners if he had no agreement on the end of the war in 50 days.
The Kremlin had already explained to the rumors of new arms deliveries to Ukraine that there was no big difference to the previous situation, since the United States had always delivered weapons. The Russian stock exchange reacted with a price increase after Trump’s appearance in the White House. A signal that the Russian economy also expected harder measures.
