After working on US President Trump for months, he now increases the pressure on Moscow. The Kremlin reacts waiting, other high -ranking politicians in Russia are less reluctant.
Russia has rejected the arms deliveries for Ukraine and threatened sanctions as harmful to peace efforts by US President Donald Trump. Such decisions perceive the Ukrainian side as a sign of a continuation of the war, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow, according to the Russian news agency Interfax. Moscow had started the war under the pretext three years ago to protect its own security and that of the Russian minority in the east of Ukraine.
Russia will take the time to analyze Trump’s explanations. Since some of the statements were addressed directly to President Vladimir Putin, he did not want to pre -pressed, but wait for his evaluation, Peskow added.
Criticism also came from the Foreign Ministry. The arms deliveries testified that NATO wanted to continue war, said Vice Minister Alexander Gruschko. Russia rejects all attempts to force demands or even ultimats to the country, said Sergei Rjabkow, another Vice Foreign Minister in Moscow.
Previously, senior politicians in Russia had already reacted to Trump’s announcements with malice. “If that is all Trump wanted to say about Ukraine today, the expectations have so far been set too high,” wrote the Vice Office of the Russian Federation Council, Konstantin Kossatschev, on Monday evening at Telegram. Trump will not influence the mood in Russia, the US armaments industry alone benefits and the Europeans paid the colliery, he wrote.
Russia’s ex-President Dmitri Medvedev described Trump’s statements on Tuesday as a “theatrical ultimatum to the Kremlin”. The world had trembled because of the feared consequences that the arguments of Europeans were disappointed, “Russia didn’t care,” wrote, as Vice -President of the National Security Council in Moscow
New tones from Trump and an alleged phone call
Trump had struck new tones towards Russia on Monday after around six months of mediation efforts in the Ukraine War. He was disappointed by Putin, he said. He announced new arms deliveries for Ukraine to pay the European NATO countries. In addition, he threatened punitive tariffs against Russia’s trading partners if he had no agreement on the end of the war in 50 days.
According to a report by the “Financial Times”, Trump is said to have even encouraged Ukraine to attack attacks deep in the Russian hinterland. On a phone call with the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, he asked whether Kiev Russia’s capital Moscow or the second largest city in the country, St. Petersburg, could make if the USA delivered long -distance weapons, it was said, referring to the conversation. The White House did not comment on the report, Kremlin spokesman Peskow spoke of alleged false reports.
Politologist: No full conviction at Trump
The prominent Moscow political scientist Fjodor Lukjanow sees Trump a hesitation to “fall into a confrontation with Russia with full force”. Therefore, he constantly repeats that this is not his war, but that of predecessor Joe Biden. “From Trump’s point of view, what has been announced is a very moderate, compromise -ready approach,” said the editor -in -chief of the political magazine “Russia in global politics”. With the purchase of weapons by NATO countries, Trump wants to avoid a direct confrontation with Moscow.
“Russia will hardly understand this step by Trump as an invitation to talks. This is pressure and the Russian leadership does not work under pressure,” said Lukjanow. He believes that the military situation for Moscow deteriorates, but not fundamentally. “The actual conversation continues on the fronts.”
China rejects the threat of sanctions
Beijing also does not want to be put under pressure. When asked about the threat of the United States to raise further tariffs against trading partners in Russia, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China Lehne, emphasized illegal, one -sided sanctions. There are no winners in an customs war, said spokesman Lin Jian in Beijing. Due and pressure would not solve the problem. With a view to the “Ukraine crisis”, China’s attitude is clear, dialogue and negotiation are the only way, said Lin.
Previously, China’s state and party leader XI Jinping Russia received Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrow in Beijing. According to official information, XI said that Russia and China should continue to support and drive the expansion of their partnership. Lavrov traveled to China on the occasion of the Shanghaier Organization for Cooperation in Northern China.
