What’s next after the burst judge election? SPD candidate Brosius-Gersdorf explains her attitude, reports on threats-and announces a potentially explosive statement.
The constitutional lawyer Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf nominated by the SPD, despite criticism from the Union, initially adheres to its candidacy for the Federal Constitutional Court. If the court threatened the court about the bursting judge, she would do without it immediately, the lawyer said on the ZDF “Markus Lanz”. “This is a damage that I can’t answer for it.” The Federal Constitutional Court must be able to work in peace and remain functional.
Brosius-Gersdorf emphasized: “I also don’t want to be responsible for a government crisis in this country because we do not know what happens afterwards. These are all aspects, I take it extremely seriously and I think.”
On Friday, the election of two new judges and a judge for Karlsruhe was discontinued by the agenda of the Bundestag. The pressure against the lawyer Brosius-Gersdorf proposed by the SPD had become too great in the Union. The group management was no longer able to guarantee the support agreed with the coalition partner.
Now it is completely open how the CDU, CSU and SPD can dissolve the dilemma and yet can still choose judges together – because Union politicians stick to their criticism as well as the SPD on its candidate.
Brosius-Gersdorf speaks of campaign
Brosius-Gersdorf said it was no longer just about her. “It is also about what happens when such campaigns, and in some cases a campaign, were enforced, what does what is done with us, what does the country with our democracy.” She must weigh this.
She had received thousands of letters and calls from the population, from politics, from pastors, from colleagues from law and other disciplines, which they would have asked for sustainably not to put it back now because such a campaign prevailed.
Lawyer: I received threats
Previously, the lawyer had clearly rejected allegations in a written statement against her. “The name of my person as” ultralinks “or” left -wing radical “is defamatory and unrealistic,” it says. In some media, their position on the abortion was also wrongly reported. At ZDF, Brosius-Gersdorf emphasized: “I represent absolutely moderate positions from the middle of our society.” Anyone can read this.
At the same time, she reported that she received threats and suspicious pieces of post. “As a precaution, I had to ask my employees not to work on the chair,” said Brosius-Gersdorf. The reporting on the constitutional judge and her person “did not go past me without a trace, not me, not my husband, my family, my entire social environment.”
Opinion on plagiarism allegations expected
Shortly before the planned judge election in the Bundestag, Plagiarism also had allegations against Brosius-Gersdorf. An Austrian plagiarism tester published parallels between their doctoral thesis and the habilitation thesis of their husband.
Brosius-Gersdorf said to the plagiarism allegations on ZDF that they were “the last attempt to prevent me”. The lawyer reported that she immediately commissioned specialists to clarify. A law firm had checked the allegations for several days and will make a statement on Wednesday.
