With doubts about her dissertation, the Union justified its no to choose Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf. An expert opinion does not see any scientific misconduct.
It is the third and possibly the final part of the media counter-offensive of the constitutional court candidate Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf. After the Potsdam legal professor published a hard-scale explanation on Tuesday and had completed a combative appearance on the ZDF program “Markus Lanz”, the attempt followed on Wednesday that the already weak allegations of plagiarism against her.
The Stuttgart law firm “Quaas & Partner” published a short report that Brosius-Gersdorf and her husband Hubertus Gersdorf had commissioned. It should clarify why there are agreement in the scientific work of the two spouses, whether with text passages or in footnotes.
The eleven -page letter is that star before. The decisive sentence can be found at the end. “Even if one assumes that all of the matches shown cannot be explained, they do not justify a plagiarism, nor do they question the scientific nature of the work by Prof. Dr. Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf and Prof. Dr. Hubertus Gersdorf.”
Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf had released her doctoral thesis earlier
The allegations of plagiarism were raised by the self -proclaimed “plagiarism hunter” Stefan Weber almost a week ago. They were then used by the management of the Union faction in the Bundestag to justify their rejection of the SPD candidate. Weber himself relativized his allegations.
Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf published her doctoral thesis in 1997. Hubertus Gersdorf’s habilitation appeared three years later. There are isolated matches in the two texts.
In addition, it says in the expert opinion: “Due to the timing and the dissertation of Prof. Dr. Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf’s dissertation, which was published much earlier, the first appearance is that-if it is the case at all-this has not taken over any passages from the habilitation of her husband.”
