Julija Swryrydenko: This is how the new hopeful of Ukraine ticks

The future head of government Julija Swyrydenko can be described as a high -flyer without exaggeration. The 39-year-old put a lightning career that she has now led to the head of the government in Kiev. It was named the new Prime Minister of Prime Minister by President Wolodymyr Selenskyj not only because of her extraordinary skills as an economic expert, but also because she should be well received in Washington.

The United States is by far the country’s most important partner, and the name Swyrydenko is likely to be heard in the Trump administration. The previous Minister of Economic Affairs acted the raw material agreement between the two countries for Ukraine. It was she who signed the agreement in Washington – and the Donald Trump declared a prerequisite for further support.

It is a deal that is intended to consolidate the binding to the USA: common exploitation of important raw materials such as rare earths, oil and gas, the profits should flow into the state’s reconstruction through an investment fund. The United States can also pay its share in the fund in the form of weapons. And: In the Agreement, the United States expressly recognizes Ukraine’s wish to be accepted into the EU – an important signal towards Moscow.

For Swyrydenko, the raw material agreement, which Selenskyj called “historically”, was the latest identification of its competence and leadership. It only seemed logical to promote the deputy head of government to the boss. In the new career jump, Swryrydenko will have helped her unconditional loyalty to Selenskyj. “I am President Wolodymyr Selenskyj grateful for his trust – and for the opportunity to serve Ukraine in this crucial time,” said Swrydenko.

In addition, from the point of view of the Ukrainian economy, she had already held the country from the perspective of the Ukrainian economy on the country: Swryrydo mainly took care of international help and loans, without which Ukraine would not have been able to survive. It had a major impact on the EU to grant an aid package of 50 billion euros for four years from 2024.

She received her training at the National University of Trade and Business in Kyiv. Then she led the way back to her birthplace of Tschernihiw in the north of the country near the Russian border. She worked in the free economy and as a civil servant. She earned her first merits when she brought Chinese investors into the city. That apparently noticed in the capital. In 2019, the then Ministry of Economy brought them to the Ministry. Now she will be head of government.

“The government needs a change because people are drained,” said former Ukrainian Minister of Economic Affairs Tymofij Mylowanow. The 39-year-old is “very efficient”, always kept his nerve and can bring “a certain freshness” to the government after more than three and a half years of war.
