In the case of the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, US President Donald Trump is rarely faced with criticism from his own ranks – and is angry. In a post on his platform “Truth Social”, Trump spoke of a “dizziness” of the Democrats, to which his “former” supporters from the so-called Maga coalition (“Make America Great Again” “) were eaten.

“Let these weaklings go on and do the work of the Democrats, don’t even think about speaking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want to support them anymore!” Wrote Trump. “Some stupid Republicans” went to the Democrats, Trump then criticized in the White House. He claimed that certain of his party colleagues followed “a screenplay by the Democrats”.

Previously, among other things, the Republican chairman of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, had spoken out for the publication of the documents on the Epstein case – and thus publicly opposed the US government. “It is a very sensitive topic, but we should disclose everything and let people decide,” said Mike Johnson, the Republican Chairman of the House of Representatives, in a podcast on Tuesday evening (local time). Meanwhile, many Trump fans raise the question of whether the president has something to hide in the matter.

Why the case causes discussions

Publishing the files for the case was one of Trump’s election promise. Epstein’s arrest, which had systematically abused minors for many years, caused a sensation in the USA and worldwide. In 2019 he committed suicide in his prison cell at the age of 66. In parts of the US company, Epstein’s death caused wild speculation because he had the best contacts in the American high society. President and billionaires went in and out of him-Donald Trump also spent time with Epstein, as several party videos of the two prove.

The case was perfect food for conspiracy theorists: many hated – and often perceived as liberal – elites were in the haze of a deeply fallen sex criminal, which suddenly dies under dubious circumstances. For many doubters, the conclusion was made that Epstein was killed to disguise the deeds of third parties. The new FBI directors Kash Patel used by the President and his Vice Dan Bongino also made a similar statement before their calling.

How the government deals with the case

In the meantime, Patel, Bongino and US Justice Minister Pam Bondi no longer want to know about their promises to publish the investigative files and information on possibly involved people. At the beginning of last week, the FBI announced that he had not found any evidence of participating more prominent. Epstein’s death is also clear. There is therefore no legendary list of the former multimillionaire with the names of US elites.

In the US public, this caused frowning. Because in February, Bondi had in a TV interview on the clear question of whether an Epstein customer list could really be published, “she was just answered for the exam on my desk”. The White House said this with a misunderstanding: Bondi meant that she was presenting the investigative files.

The Minister of Justice refused to answer questions about the topic at a press conference on Tuesday and referred to an already published memo. Accordingly, no further documents on the Epstein case should be published. Johnson now asked Bondi to “explain to everyone” the matter.

Trump, on the other hand, also stood behind his minister on Wednesday: Bondi would do her job very well, he emphasized. “She says I gave you all credible information, and if she finds further credible information, she will also give it,” said Trump. “I mean, honestly, what else can she do?” The Republican explained that she could publish all credible documents.

Whether such statements will appease his supporters can be doubted: Supporters from the environment of the so-called MAGA movement require the publication of the files kept under closure and criticize the Ministry of Justice and the Federal Police FBI for not making the documents open to the public.

Trump’s former closer consultant and now alienated multi -illiarch Elon Musk recently wrote on X: “How should you trust Trump if he doesn’t publish the Epstein files?” Musk had already claimed without evidence a few weeks ago that the documents would not be published because Trump’s name was in them.
