Israel wants to send Drusen to Syria aid deliveries

Israel has been attacking goals in Syria for days. The reason is the handling of the Islamist government with the Drusian minority in the country. She now wants to support them differently.

After days of fighting in the Syrian province of Suwaida, Israel wants to send humanitarian aid to the religious minority of the Drusen. The program worth around 500,000 euros includes food, medical equipment, first aid cases and medication, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.

The Drusen are a religious minority that emerged from Shiite Islam. They live in Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. In the past few days, her Syrian stronghold of Suwaida has become the scene of bloody clashes between Drusenmilizen on the one hand and Sunni Bedouins and government troops on the other. There are said to have been hundreds of deaths.

Israel sees Drusen as an ally

Israel had intervened in the conflict on the Drusen side and bombed government buildings in Damascus, among other things. However, it had not moved into the competitive areas with its own ground troops.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not continue how the relief supplies should be brought to their addressees. The help will specifically come up with those drusian areas in the province of Suwaida that were affected by the recent bloody attacks against Druze, the ministry announcement said.
