Pandemic: Thousands demonstrate against corona policy

In politics, opening perspectives are being discussed, but for some people that is not enough. They are taking to the streets against the Corona measures.

Several thousand people demonstrated again against the Corona policy in various cities on Saturday – despite the relaxation of protective measures announced by the federal and state governments.

According to the police, around 4,500 critics of the corona measures walked through the city center in Freiburg. According to initial estimates by a dpa reporter, there were a few thousand people in Reutlingen. A police spokesman initially gave no information on the number of participants. A gathering of 7,000 people was registered.

Several thousand people also took to the streets in Düsseldorf to protest against the corona measures. According to initial estimates by a local dpa photographer, there were around 3,000 people. The demonstrators opposed a “compulsory vaccination” and campaigned for freedom of choice. According to the police, around 3,000 people took part in a demonstration in Frankfurt am Main.

In Augsburg there was also a demonstration against the Corona measures through the city center. At the top, around 5,500 people took part, according to the police. Demonstrations against the Corona policy also took place in other cities in Germany, but mostly with fewer participants. Nothing was initially known of major incidents.

On Wednesday, the federal and state governments had agreed on a three-stage plan for openings in the corona pandemic up to a possible end of all more far-reaching requirements on March 20 – but “basic protection” should remain after that.
