Russia continues to attack Ukraine. In the capital Kiev, the entrance to a subway station is now hit in which people have been looking for protection.

Regardless of possible negotiations on ceasefire, Russia continued its massive air raids on Kiev during the night. The military administration of the Ukrainian capital reported at least one dead as a result of the attacks. At least two other people were injured. Meanwhile, the supporters of Ukraine want to advise on further help at a virtual meeting of the so-called Ukraine contact group.

In the western Ukrainian city of Iwano-Frankiwsk near the border with Poland, too, according to the “The Kyiv Independent” there was explosions and impacts. According to the “RBK Ukraine” portal, several people were killed in the combined attack with drones and ballistic rockets. Poland and allies had launched fighter jet in response and protection of the Polish airspace, quoted media from a statement from the command of command of the Polish armed forces.

The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj had proposed negotiations on a ceasefire at the weekend. There is no date for the talks yet. As before, Istanbul should be the place of the meeting again, the state Russian news agency TASS reported, citing an unspecified source from the negotiation circles. Most recently, there had been direct negotiations in Istanbul at the beginning of June – but without the prospect of an unconditional ceasefire requested by Kiev.

Reports: Damaged input of the subway station

Due to the renewed Russian drone and rocket attacks, several districts of the capital Kiev buildings caught fire, including a high-rise, a supermarket and the site of a kindergarten, wrote head of Tymur Tkatschenko on Telegram. The entrance to a subway station was also damaged, he continued. According to media reports, dense smoke should be inside the station in which people would have been looking for protection against the attack.

The mayor of Kiev and head of civil administration, Vitali Klitschko, said on Telegram that air defense was in action. The enemy continues to attack the capital. People should stay in the shelters.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a large -scale Russian invasion for more than three years. Kyiv is usually better secured by air defense than other cities in the country. Nevertheless, the capital is repeatedly hit by severe attacks with drones or rockets.

Heavy fights also on the front

Russian attackers and Ukrainian defenders again fought serious fights along the front in the east of Ukraine on Sunday. As the general staff in Kiev announced on Facebook, a total of 122 Russian attacks were reported by various sections, which were also supported by artillery and the Russian Air Force. In the air raids, 71 directed slide bombs were thrown on Ukrainian positions. The information could not be checked independently.

The focus of the Russian attacks was once again at Pokrowsk. There, Russian units had made 36 attacks from different shotgings, the military said.

The city of Pokrowsk is located in the west of the eastern Ukrainian Donetsk region at a strategically important traffic junction. It has been difficult to compete for months and has now almost completely destroyed. The Ukrainian defenders were able to slow down the Russian occupiers’ advance to the city. However, the Russian troops have now managed to move in north and especially in the south of the city, so that the city threatens to settle in.

Rutte takes part in the virtual meeting of the contact group

NATO said that the virtual meeting of the contact group, which is led by Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his British colleague John Healey, will also take part in NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. According to the British news agency PA, Healey also wants to support the ultimatum of US President Donald Trump to Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin.

Trump had explained last week if there was no deal in the end of the Russian war against Ukraine within 50 days, then the USA would raise high tariffs against Russia’s trading partners.

Defense Minister from Germany, Great Britain and numerous other countries want to coordinate further military aid for the Ukraine attacked by Russia. According to PA, Healey is expected to explain that the West should reinforce its military support for Ukraine in order to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.
