Opinion: Alice Weidel, the AfD and its involuntary helpers

The self -lies of the AfD are as numerous as its lies. As a populist opposition party, she promises everything, but does not say how she wants to finance it. As an extreme right -wing party, she demands the so -called remigration of foreigners, but does not mean that in case of doubt. And as a political party, she is pushing more and more towards government power, but does not really know how to do it.

Moderator Markus Preiß addressed all of these inner contradictions on Sunday in the ARD summer interview. And Alice Weidel couldn’t give any meaningful answers again. Note: Even an AfD chairman cannot refute the laws of logic with aggressive arrogance.

But Weidel was lucky. Their moderate idea on the terrace of the ARD capital studio was saved by the roar from the other side of the Spreese side. A small protest brigade had set up there to disturb the interview with drums, chants and loud music.

According to his own statements, the so -called Center for Political Beauty – which the AfD once again did a big favor. Because instead of talking about Alice Weidel’s content and strategic weaknesses, the noise has been stained since then.

As a result, Weidel can stage herself as a victim of left-wing activists, while her followers enjoy the public service broadcast. The activists have been accurately served two of the most effective enemy images of the AfD. And, whether they are wanted or not, they confirmed the sentiment with which the party grew up: that in Germany undesirable opinions are suppressed.

This expressly does not mean that protest against the AfD is wrong. And it doesn’t mean that he would be illegitimate. Quite the opposite. Freedom of assembly is also one of the most important fundamental democratic fundamental rights because it can serve in an emergency to defend democracy.

But there is a difference whether demonstrators face an extremist rally or whether they are trying to drown out a critically conducted television interview. The idea that the AfD disappears, if you only scream louder than it, is even wrong as the assumption that the party can be banned away.

Instead, Sunday showed again that not only the AfD lacks a consistent strategy – but also its political opponents. And he showed how difficult we have a sovereign handling of the party.

Of course, this inability is also due to the essence of the AfD. Like other extreme organizations – whether in the past or the present – the party tries to beat Liberal democracy with its own means.

However, these funds also include the practiced excitement reflexes. They may help to feel better or braver personally. But they harm political concerns.
