Ukrainian intelligence agency takes action against anti -corruption office

The national anti -corruption office of Ukraine, founded in 2015, was considered a showcase organization. Now the President Selenskyj is following SBU’s secret service with raids against the authority.

The Ukrainian secret service SBU, together with the Attorney General, has carried out dozens of raids in investigators from the national anti -corruption office (NABU). Among other things, these would have passed information to the Russian secret service through Exile-Ukrainians in Russia, the authorities said. A arrested NABU investigator was also accused of business with Russia.

NABU investigators are also said to have helped several Ukrainian business people to escape from the war country. Others were charged for traffic accidents. In a statement, the NABU informed about at least 70 house searches, of which no less than 15 employees were affected by the authority. NABU boss Semen Krywonos broke off a business trip in Great Britain.

The SBU also carried out house searches with the specialized anti -corruption prosecutor (SAP). Their head Olexander Klymenko was also in Great Britain. The SBU denied allegations from the anti -corruption authorities that he had gained access to information from investigative procedures during the raids.

Power struggle of the security organs suspects

The non -governmental organization Transparency International wrote in an explanation of an “attempt to disassemble the system for fighting corruption”. The attempted pressure on the anti -corruption organs is not permitted. “We call on President Wolodymyr Selenskyj to publicly guarantee the independence of the anti -corruption organs and call for the SBU and the Attorney General to hire the illegal pressure,” it said. As the background of the raids, the media suspect a reaction of President Wolodymyr Selenskyj to NABU and SAP corruption investigations against ex-vice-headers. This should be close to Selenskyj.

The SBU secret service is Selenskyj. NABU and a number of other authorities were founded after the Proswestliche overthrow in 2014 with foreign support in order to be primarily against the notorious corruption of high -ranking national employees. Nevertheless, according to the Ukraine Transparency International is considered one of the most corrupt countries in Europe.
