Taliban sends consular employees to Germany for the first time

Among other things, to support other deportation frequencies to Afghanistan, the Federal Government has been entering consular employees for the first time since the Islamist Taliban Taliban take over. At the moment, the Afghan representations in Germany were managed by people who were accredited before the takeover of power said at the request of the DPA news agency from the Federal Foreign Office. However, the staff ceiling is thin. The two new employees entered the weekend.

“The Federal Government has an interest in the fact that Afghan citizens are adequately cared for consular in Germany – this includes, for example, the exhibition of passports,” it said.

Government spokesman Steffen Kornelius in Berlin had previously confirmed that the accreditations for the two Afghans were connected to the recently carried out deportation flight from Germany. The “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” had previously reported about it.

On Friday, 81 Afghans from Germany had been deported for the first time since the black and red government took office. Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) emphasized that there should be no diplomatic recognition of the Taliban. There were only so -called technical contacts with the involvement of the Golfemirate Qatar to prepare the deportation.

The Federal Government has no official relationships with the Islamist Taliban, which have been isolated internationally in Afghanistan since the summer of 2021 in Afghanistan.
