Netanyahu under pressure: 25 countries demand peace. The situation in the morning

On Monday I wrote in the morning | Stern about a report that reveals that the White House is not in jubilation about Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It remains unclear whether US President Donald Trump shares his civil servants’ concerns. But anonymous sources in the report indicate that the Republican could soon lose patience with his friend “Bibi”.

Instead, the international pressure is now growing from a different side: the foreign ministers of 25 countries demand an immediate end of the war in the Gaza Strip. Among the signatories are Italy, France, Austria, Japan, Spain, Poland, Switzerland and Australia. Also signed the EU commissioner for equality and crisis management.

Her message: “The war in Gaza has to be ended now.” Further bloodshed “does not serve any purpose”. The signatories also require the immediate release of the hostages in the Gaza Strip and criticize Israel’s handling of humanitarian aid.

Germany did not agree with the explanation, but does not remain silent. Chancellor Friedrich Merz sharply criticized Israel’s approach in the Gaza Strip. “This is not acceptable as the Israeli army is doing there.” He also told the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone call last Friday and “very clearly and very clearly told him that we did not share the Gaza policy of the Israeli government”. What the Israeli government does in the Gaza Strip may be understandable for security policy considerations. “We don’t share it, and above all we see the great need of the civilian population there.”

And Israel? Is unimpressed by international criticism, even if it comes from close partners. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the 25 countries declaration as “without reference to reality”. She sends a “wrong signal” to Hamas, which started the war and “alone” was responsible for the fact that there is no ceasefire and freedom of hostage despite discussions. Meanwhile, Israel’s military, according to eyewitnesses, first moved into the area of Deir al-Balah in the middle section of the Gaza Strip for the first time.

It doesn’t sound as if Israel will rethink his attitude or change his procedure in the Gaza Strip. But the pressure on Netanyahu remains and should increase. It will not let up as long as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip remains so disastrous. The dissent between Israel and the global community shows that a solution is more urgent than ever.

Donald Trump and his government are still guarding some documents about the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, although Trump had promised disclosure. This is angered by some of his loyal Maga supporters and could become a boomerang for the Republican.

Now the Trump administration publishes files for a legendary murder case. Should that distract from the Epstein Causa? A Schelm who thinks evil.

More than 240,000 pages of digital documents for monitoring the iconic civil rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Martin Luther King Jr. by the FBI are now accessible. They have been under lock and key since 1977. It remains uncertain whether they deliver new insights over King’s life, movement or the circumstances of his murder in 1968.

In an explanation, King’s children, Martin III. And Bernice that her father’s murder “has been captivating the public’s curiosity for decades”. They called for the files to be viewed in full historical context. According to this, the Kings family received access to the documents in advance and had them checked by their own teams.

The Kings also confirmed their conviction that James Earl Ray, who was convicted of murdering King, was not solely responsible if at all. “While we are examining these newly published documents, we will judge whether you provide additional knowledge that goes beyond the results that our family has already accepted,” said the Kings.

It remains to be seen whether Trump’s recent release of Trump can appease Maga supporters. In any case, it offers the president a welcome opportunity for positive headlines, while the Epstein case hovers above him. That doesn’t go unnoticed. “The fact that Trump publishes the files of Martin Luther King’s murder has nothing to do with transparency or justice,” said civil rights activist Al Sharton. “It is a desperate attempt to distract people from the controversy around the Epstein files and the public loss of his credibility among the Maga supporters.”

The drops have not yet been sucked: the debate about the candidate for the Federal Constitutional Court, Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf, is still running. An agreement is not yet in sight. For the Union, the legal scholar is not clear, the SPD wants to stick to it. Party leader Lars Klingbeil even threatens to simply pull through the canceled election in September. According to surveys, a majority of Germans believe that Ms. Brosius-Gersdorf should not withdraw her candidacy. The case has become a test for their own credibility for both parties. Botanists of and from Great Britain have researched the perfect flower combination for bees and hoverflies to use the insects under their arms, uh, wings. They evaluated more than 400 earlier studies on flowers and insects and examined how much the insects prefer the flower mixtures currently available in stores. On this basis, they developed two new seeds, which they rated both according to the number of visiting insects and after their optics for us humans. The researchers placed emphasis on the aesthetic dimension, because the appearance plays a crucial role in our gardens and green areas.
