Europe and the United States have to prevent Iran from building an atomic bomb for years. It remains questionable how long the plan will work – because Tehran does not want to join this.
According to the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghtschi, Tehran will not give up uranium enrichment despite the US attacks on the Iranian nuclear facilities and the damage caused. The enrichment was stopped because “the damage is serious and serious,” said the minister on Monday Fox news. “But it is clear that we cannot give up the enrichment because it is an achievement of our scientists,” he added.
“It is a question of the national pride,” added Araghtschi in the show of the moderator Bret Baier. He also emphasized that every future nuclear agreement had to grant Iran the right to enrichment with uranium enrichment.
When asked whether the enriched uranium could be saved despite the US attacks, the Foreign Minister said that he had no “detailed information”. However, the national Iranian nuclear authority tries to determine what exactly happened with the enriched material.
Trump threatens again with bombing on Iran
In his online service Truth Social reference to Araghtschi’s information, which the nuclear facilities were damaged: “Of course, as I said, they are in his online service. And if necessary, we will do it again,” threatened Trump.
The West accuses Iran of striving for nuclear weapons. Tehran denies this. Iran will come together on Friday in Istanbul with representatives of Great Britain, France and Germany for discussions about the Iranian nuclear program. It has been the first meeting since the twelve -day war between Iran and Israel last month, in the course of which the United States attacked the Iranian nuclear facilities.
Future of the nuclear program uncertain
Israel had started a major attack on Iran on June 13 and bombed nuclear and military facilities in the country for days. Iran then attacked Israel with rockets and drones. The United States finally turned on to the war on the side of Israel and bombed the Iranian nuclear facilities Fordo, Natans and Isfahan. After twelve days of war, a ceasefire between Israel and Iran came into force on June 24th.
France, Germany and Great Britain as well as the United States, Russia and China had closed an atomic agreement with Iran in 2015 to prevent the country from building an atomic bomb. However, the United States rose from the agreement on one side during Donald Trump’s first presidency and then again imposed massive sanctions against Iran.
