The mayor of Spremberg wants to offer the right and turns to the citizens. They don’t want to participate, but the head of the city follows.
The fire letter from the Mayor of Spremberg for the strengthening of right -wing extremism meets some people in the South Brandenburg city. Before a meeting of the city council in the afternoon, a small group demonstrated on the market square. Mayor Christine Hernier’s resignation was requested on a poster.
It was said that the reputation of the city of Spremberg was massively damaged with the appearances in public service broadcasters. “As a citizen of the city of Spremberg, I feel depressed in the right -wing radical rail with their appearances.” This does not throw good light on the city, said one participant. Others complained, among other things, a lack of a feeling of security in the city, too little attention to German citizens, missing doctors and a dilapidated swimming pool.
Call of the Mayor in Spremberg
Mayor Hernier had turned to the city’s almost 22,000 inhabitants in the Lausitz Kohleregion in Südbrandenburg. In it, she complained that the idea of the right -wing extremist scene in Spremberg was becoming increasingly noticeable.
It should no longer be silent, said the non -party politician. She described that teachers and students from high schools would come to her in the town hall full of anger and fear. Among other things, citizens asked if they had to move away, were desperate and cried. She repeated her view this week in an interview of the ZDF.
A meeting of the Spremberger city council was planned for the afternoon. Protests were called for protests in a telegram group. Hernier was also insulted and hostile in this group.

Hernter counters
Hernier has now defended itself against the accusation that it is a shame, especially the image of the city. “Does the problem go away when we don’t name it?” Hernter asked at the city council meeting.
She called on not accepting crimes such as anti -constitutional symbols and seditions, tackling it together and submitting a “commitment” against it. In addition, she also showed pictures with right-wing smearings and posters from the 22,000-inhabitant city. “Who thinks it’s good when we welcome guests to the train station?” Hernier added. She received a lot of support in the city council.
