Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) announced in an interview that the Corona travel rules would be relaxed. Many Easter vacationers should breathe a sigh of relief.
The federal government is planning to relax the corona travel rules. “This makes traveling easier for families,” said Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD). “You should still be careful on vacation.”
According to a draft amendment, countries should only be designated as high-risk areas if a corona mutant is rampant there that is more dangerous than the omicron variant, such as the delta variant, the newspaper reported, citing the draft. The corresponding changes should take place on March 4th, as a spokeswoman for the ministry announced on Sunday. The cabinet meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.
Return travel from omicron countries will be easier
According to the newspaper, the change should eliminate the obligation to register and quarantine for Omikron countries when returning to Germany. If unvaccinated children return from areas that are still considered high-risk areas, they should be able to test themselves freely in the future. According to the report, the obligation for all non-vaccinated persons to present a negative test upon entry should remain in place, even if they return from non-risk areas.
