CDU politician: Caroline Bosbach rejects accusations of party money

The CDU member of the Bundestag, Caroline Bosbach, defends itself against allegations of having accepted the CDU party money in the amount of 2,500 euros privately. “A dirt campaign is currently underway against me,” wrote the daughter of the long-time CDU member of the Bundestag Wolfgang Bosbach on Instagram. There she also published an explanation of her lawyer, in which he rejects the allegations against Bosbach.

“The allegations are wrong,” says the lawyer Ralf Höcker, which was also published on platform X. He described the allegations “as part of a perfidious revenge campaign” that had been constructed.

Alleged fake invoices

According to research by RTL/NTV and “Stern”, 2,500 euros from a CDU party account in January should have landed via detours in cash near Bosbach. The basis is said to have been a fake bill that is said to have issued a former CDU employee for services in Bosbach’s Bundestag election campaign.

“One thing is clear: from the outset there was no sham calculation and no damage to the CDU (…),” writes Bosbach’s lawyer. Rather, the campaign helper has demonstrably provided all services billed by the CDU. These services were in a well -documented form.

Documents lie with the public prosecutor

The Cologne public prosecutor also employs allegations against Bosbach. The CDU Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis had presented the public prosecutor’s office, the content of which should now be appreciated from a criminal point of view, said, Chief Prosecutor Ulrich Bremer. “The CDU district association itself has not expressly filed a criminal complaint.” The legal assessment of the whole could “take some time”.

Bosbach’s lawyer said that his client had never billed her privately, reimbursable campaign costs from the CDU. According to Höcker, the CDU would never have been damaged, even if the campaign helper actually had never helped in the election campaign, as he falsely claimed. Because Bosbach had never submitted to the CDU of the CDU personally with several thousand euros that they could have been reimbursed.

Bosbach transferred money to CDU after allegations

In addition, the politician “immediately transferred another 2,500 euros to the CDU immediately after the accusation of the fictitious allegations in order to remove any doubts and even” to “compensate for” hypothetical damage.

The 35-year-old Bosbach had brought the direct mandate in the Bundestag election in February in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis constituency and moved to the Bundestag for the first time. It received 42.2 percent of the first votes in the constituency, which was considered CDU stronghold.
