The Holocaust denier Horst Mahler died at the age of 89. This was said by lawyer Jan Dollwetzel, who recently represented Mahler in a trial in 2023, the German Press Agency. Mahler died in a hospital in Berlin on Sunday afternoon.



Mahler, the co -founder of the left -wing extremist Red Army Group (RAF), caused a sensation in the 1990s with his switch to right -wing radical camp. He changed from the left lawyer of the Nazi hunter Beate Klarsfeld and the student leader Rudi Dutschke to the neo-Nazi and well-known Holocaust denier.

The lawyer was convicted by German courts several times – most recently by the Potsdam District Court. Since 2009 he has served two total penalty of a total of ten years and two months in prison for sedition and Holocaust denial at the correctional facility (JVA) Brandenburg/Havel. He was released from prison in October 2020. In April 2023, another trial against him was temporarily discontinued due to a serious illness.
