The federal government has to stuff large household holes. In the financial planning, a gap of around 172 billion euros gives a gap of around 172 billion, according to government circles.
The Federal Government is planning a significantly higher debt for the 2026 budget than this year. In his budget draft, Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) assumes new debts of a total of 174.3 billion euros, as it says from the Ministry. That is around 30 billion euros more than is planned for the current year.
Investments and defense loads on the household
The sum of the total accounted for 89.9 billion euros. In addition, there would be 84.4 billion euros in credit -financed expenses from the two special budgets for infrastructure and climate protection as well as for the Bundeswehr.
According to information from the ministry, the high run of the investments for a total of 126.7 billion euros and the rapidly increasing defense spending are decisive for the growth of debt. For example, the defense budget in the core budget alone should increase by around 20 billion euros to 82.7 billion euros. The NATO quota as a proportion of defense spending on economic output is expected to achieve around 2.8 percent.
