Success for the Kremlin: A close confidante of President Putin travels to the West regardless of the sanctions. Russia’s most powerful woman is a peace ambassador in war against Kyiv.
Russia’s most powerful woman – a confidante of Kreml boss Vladimir Putin – has performed at a forum in Switzerland regardless of the western sanctions. The experience of two world wars must be a warning of a Third World War, said Valentina Matwijenko, the chairwoman of the Federation Council, the Russian parliamentary house, in view of the conflicts in the world. The 76-year-old stands on western sanction lists as a glowing supporter of Putin’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
In Russia, pictures were shown how the Matwijenko traveled with a government aircraft was received with flowers when landing. She took part in a multi -day meeting of Parliamentary President of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU). Bundestag president Julia Klöckner was also registered for the conference, but only wanted to arrive on Tuesday.
Matwijenko presented herself in Switzerland as an ambassador for communication and called for peace to ensure the “security of all nations”. Russia has started his war against Ukraine under the pretext that his own security was endangered by the ambitions of the neighboring country to join NATO. In addition to Matwijenko, the also sanctioned Duma politicians Leonid Sluzki and Pjotr Tolstoy were also at the event in Geneva.
