Medvedev answers Trump’s ultimatum with threat of war

Donald Trump increases the pressure on Russia to force peace in Ukraine. The reaction from Moscow is sharp and clear.

Russia’s former head of state Dmitri Medledew has rejected the customs announcements of US President Donald Trump in sharp words. If Trump is threatening deadlines to persuade Russia to give in conflict against Ukraine, he had to consider that every ultimatum was on the way to the war, Medvedev wrote on the platform X. “Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country,” threatened Medwedew. Trump shouldn’t go the path of his predecessor.

Trump sets the ultimatum of “ten or twelve” days

Previously, Trump had significantly increased the pressure on Russia in the effort for peace for Ukraine. He would now reduce the period of 50 days for significantly higher tariffs for Russia’s trading partner to “ten or twelve” days, Trump said during a meeting with the British Prime Minister Keir Strander. The tariffs therefore come into force if there is no agreement for a ceasefire or peace up to this point. Trump justified the step of being disappointed by Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin who had not shown any accommodation.

The Kremlin repeatedly emphasizes that it cannot be put under pressure. “Russia is not Israel or even Iran,” said Medvedev with a view to the Middle East conflict in which the United States attacked Iran on the side of Israel to stop its nuclear program. As head of the National Security Council, the 59-year-old continues to have a lot of influence in Moscow.
