Controversial co-boss of the Green Youth does without new candidacy

Jette Nietzard announced her decision on Instagram: she does not run again for the Green Youth Management Office.

The co-boss of the Green Youth, Jette Nietzard, does not want to stand for election again. This was announced by the 26-year-old on the social network Instagram. Until the new election of the Federal Executive Board of the Green Young organization at the Federal Congress in Leipzig in mid-October, it will still be in office.

Nietzard explained that she tried to draw a view of injustices. “The aim of my criticism was always people in power positions.” She criticized the Greens as too streamlined. But she remains a party member and member of the Green Youth.

“With the Greens, my thoughts have not always met with love,” said Nietzard. For some time now it has been clear that she could have no future “on this federal board” and defendant hostility.

Jette Nietzard sometimes harvests violent reactions

Nietzard had repeatedly triggered trouble and lack of understanding in the ranks of the Greens with statements on social media. At the beginning of June, she apologized for a video for Gaza and Israel, which had been uploaded shortly before. The Green Youth said in a transparency note that in the previous version of the video it “did not become clear enough that October 7 was an anti -Semitic terrorist attack”.

In the version that had already been changed at the time, Nietzard had said that since October 7, 2023, “over 50,000 Palestinians and 1200 Israelis had died in military operations”.

Debates about sweaters with messages

It was not the only time that Nietzard shaking heads with Greens members. Shortly before, in May, she had shown herself on her private Instagram channel with a sweater on which the abbreviation “ACAB” could be read. It stands for “all cops are bastards”. To do this, she wore a cap with the capitalism -critical inscription “Eat the Rich”.

Baden-Württemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann asked Nietzard to exit party. “I don’t understand what she wants with us at all,” said the Greens politician. For the positions that Nietzard represents, there is a suitable offer in the party spectrum with the left.

Nietzard distanced himself – a bit

Greens boss Felix Banaszak called Nietzard’s assessment of the police “unacceptable”. Cem Özdemir, top candidate of the party for the upcoming state election in Baden-Württemberg, criticized that the Greens were wrong who is not to get that the police also defend Greens.

Nietzard distanced herself a little from her sweater campaign. She “does not think that was the right way to draw attention to the problems,” she explains in one “star“- . She owns the sweater” as a private individual “. Nietzard has been a co-spokeswoman for the green youth since October 2024.

It wasn’t the first controversy

It was not the first time that Nietzard provoked. According to users on New Year’s Eve, she had posted on social media: “Men who lose their hand while firing can at least no more women beat.” The contribution was deleted after criticism.

After the disastrous performance of his party in the Bundestag election, she acknowledged the withdrawal of FDP boss Christian Lindner with the words: “I am pleased that the man is now shorter to enable her career and child”. Party colleague Renate Künast commented on the post. “Jette, that is unsuspecting and makes you very small,” she wrote.

Nietzard said that the presumption of innocence was in court for dubious annoyance allegations against the Green politician Stefan Gelbhaar. “But we are an organization and we are not a dish.”

Green youth is considered a squad smithy

Within the green spectrum of opinion, the green youth traditionally represent very left positions. As in other political young organizations, the leading heads do not usually shy away from criticism of the course of their own party leadership. Nevertheless, the organization is also a squad smithy: the former party leader Ricarda Lang was once at its top, as was her successor Felix Banaszak.

Nietzard was chosen in the middle of a crisis in October last year together with Jakob Blasel, her co-national spokesman, as the leadership office in the Green Youth is called. Previously, the previous board had resigned and had justified this with alienation from the Greens, in which “in the medium term there are no majorities (…) for a class -oriented policy that focuses on social issues and shows perspectives for a fundamentally different economic system”.

The hope that the relationship between youth organization and the party could come to rest with a new leadership proved to be deceptive.
