The black and red coalition has presented its second budget since taking office. The focus should be on investments and also relief. However, the minister announces more difficult times.
Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil relies on impulses for more growth with the 2026 budget. “The top goal is to secure jobs and ensure new economic strength,” said the SPD politician after the decision of his design in the Federal Cabinet. He emphasized relief for many people, among other things with a higher commuter flat rate and a continuation of the Germany ticket for buses and trains in local transport. The citizens should feel in everyday life that something improves.
The minister at the same time emphasized: “We deal responsibly with the money of the citizens.” With a view to the coming years, the government will take a strict consolidation course. To do this, an overall package must be put together, for which all ministries are responsible. “Everyone in the government will have to save.” At the same time, revenue should be strengthened by the seeds to miss less. The fight against tax fraud and financial crime is therefore a focus.
