After her election defeat, it was calm about Kamala Harris. In the United States, it was speculated whether she wanted to apply for the Governor’s Office in California. Now she creates clarity.
Democrat and former Vice President Kamala Harris, which was beaten by Donald Trump in the latest US presidential election, has rejected a possible application for the governor’s office in the state of California.
With regard to the election in the coming year, she was seriously thinking about asking the people in California to serve them as a governor, the former vice president on the platform X.
“I love this state, its people and his promise. He is my home.” However, after “careful consideration”, she decided not to take the office. The 60-year-old had set a deadline for a decision until the end of summer.
Kamala Harris could theoretically run for the US presidency in 2028
In the past few months, she has thought a lot about how she could best work for the American people in the future, the 60-year-old wrote. For the time being, she will not exercise her leadership role in a elected office. “I am happy to go out and listen to the American people,” wrote Harris.
The term of the current democratic incumbent Gavin Newsom will end in the coming year. He must not compete again after two term. Former Minister of Health Xavier Becerra and the former Congressman Katie Porter applied as candidates for the Democrats.
Harris’ waiver of an application for the governor’s office in California means theoretically that in 2028 she can again apply for the presidential candidacy. She will “share more details about my projects in the coming months,” said Harris.
