Islamic jihad publishes video by German-Israeli Geisel

The 21 -year -old Rome Braslavski has been captured by extremists in the Gaza Strip for almost two years. Now a video of him has appeared again. His family is worried about him.

There is a suspected sign of life of a German-Israeli hostage: The terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) released a six-minute video of a heavily emaciated young man on Thursday, who imagines in Hebrew as Rome Braslavski. The young man, who is visibly under coercion, appeals to the Israeli government in the video to enable his liberation. The AFP news agency was initially unable to confirm the authenticity of the video. The time of recording is also unclear.

The 21 -year -old Rome Braslavski from Jerusalem was kidnapped by terrorists from a music festival at the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, where he worked as a guard. A video by Braslavski had already been released a few months ago. Israel condemns such videos as hideous means of psychological warfare.

Rome Braslavski family: “He was simply forgotten there”

According to the forum of the hostage families, the Braslavskis family initially gave no approval to show the video or to reproduce its content. Only one statue was published on which Braslavski seems to be crying. The young man looks emaciated on the recording and very pale. Under what circumstances the video was created is unknown.

The Islamic jihad had declared that it was no longer in contact with this hostage last week. The militant group had already released a video by Braslavski in April. According to Islamic Jihad, the current one is said to have been recorded more than a week ago.

After the publication, Braslavksi’s family had the forum of the hostage families reported: “We are deeply shaken. People talk a lot about the events in Gaza, hunger, and I would like to ask everyone who has talked about hunger: Have you seen our ROM not eat or medication. He was simply forgotten there.”

On October 7, 2023, around 1200 people were killed in the south of Israel and more than 250 were dragged into the Gaza strips as hostages. The Hamas massacre was the trigger for the Gaza War.

Israel assumes that around 20 of the 50 hostages still held are still alive. Braslavski’s family called on to free all hostages. “Rome is an example of all hostages. They all have to be brought home now.”
