Donald Trump is raising new strings against Russia: According to a statement by the Russian head of state Medvedev, the US President announces the relocation of two submarines.
In response to statements by the former Russian head of state Dmitri Medvedev, US President Donald Trump claimed the tactical laying of two nuclear submarines. When asked by a journalist of the ultra-conservative US broadcaster Newsmax, whether the boats were closer to Russia, he said: “Yes, you are closer to Russia”.
Trump announced the step on Friday in the context of his discussion with Medvedev on his Truth Social platform. The relocation is “only in the event that these foolish and provocative statements are more than just that,” wrote the Republican. At first, Trump did not say where exactly the submarines should be laid, but only spoke of “suitable regions”.
The Republican also did not explain which submarines are exactly. According to an earlier report by the U.S. Congress research service, the navy has both nuclear-driven submarines without and with nuclear weapons on board.
Ultimatum to Russia was the trigger of the dispute
The public dispute between Trump and Medledew has been going on for days. The starting point was that Trump had shortened his ultimatum to Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin from 50 to ten days: During this time, a ceasefire between Russia and the Ukraine attacked by Moscow is to be achieved. The deadline will take place at the end of next week – then Trump wants to impose sanctions against Russia’s trading partners if there is no agreement.
Medvedev then threatened a direct military discussion between Russia and the United States on platform X. Each ultimatum is therefore a step on the way to the war. He described Trump as “grandpa”. Medvedev has been known since the start of the war due to its notorious anti -Western failures – partly garnished with nuclear threats.
Trump: “We are absolutely prepared”
Trump later said in front of journalists about the laying of the submarines: “Well, we had to do that”. An inappropriate threat was given – so the United States should be careful. “So I do this for security for our population.” Medvedev talked about “atom” – and when it comes to it, the United States should be prepared. “And we are absolutely prepared,” emphasized Trump.
When asked whether his view of Putin had changed, Trump told the newsmax: “He is obviously a tough chunk”, in this regard he did not change his assessment. But he was surprised that Putin and he had had numerous good conversations that could have led to the end of the war – and sudden fleas.
The US President announced on Thursday that his special envoy Steve Witkoff should continue to Russia after visiting Israel. He did not give details of Witkoff’s planned trip. On Friday, Witkoff initially stayed in the Middle East and got an idea of the location in the Gaza Strip.
