Under department head Cem Özdemir, there were generally vegetarian courts at events of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. That should change now.
In the future, there will also be meat and fish again at official events of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. This was announced by Agriculture Minister Alois Rainer in the “Bild” newspaper. “Best regional,” said the CSU politician.
Rainer thus says goodbye to the regulation introduced under his predecessor Cem Özdemir (Green), according to which vegetarian food is to be served at official events of the ministry, which also consists of 100 percent products from ecological cultivation. Exceptions were intended on certain occasions, for example on the open house or at receptions during the green week.
Minister Rainer, self-learned butcher, is tolerant compared to different diets: “Of course I understand their approach. If you want to eat vegetarian, it’s okay. Likewise, vegan is okay,” said the CSU politician of the “Bild”. He wanted “no cultural struggle on the plates or in the refrigerators”.
The CSU politician diplomatically commented on the meat-heavy eating habits of his party chairman Markus Söder: “He likes it. I like it to tell me how to eat what he has to eat. It has to taste good and be fresh, then everything is okay.”
