The SPD comes the call for a possible increase in taxes. This is not well received by the coalition partner CSU. Other ideas are loud here.
CSU boss Markus Söder has rejected claims from the SPD after tax increases in the current legislative period. “So first of all there is a clear coalition agreement. The SPD has the idea of giving higher taxes from its disposition. But there will be no such thing,” said the Bavarian Prime Minister in the ZDF “Berlin directly summer interview”.
SPD boss BAS considers tax increase to be imaginable
Federal Minister of Labor Bärbel Bas had recently made it clear that she also considers tax increases to be imaginable for long-term financing of pension, health and long-term care insurance. In order to prevent increasing contributions, reforms and higher state subsidies are necessary, the SPD chairman told the Editorial Network Germany (RND). “The coalition has excluded tax increases for this election period. It is questionable whether this can work permanently.”
CSU boss relies on more economic growth
Söder emphasized that the coalition had “just reduced taxes” and made additional debts. “You cannot seriously say if you debt, from planning up to 500 billion, then you want to increase taxes.” In order to improve the performance of the state and generate more tax revenue, economic growth is needed again.

This succeeds above all by getting more people in progress, said Söder. A “complete change in the citizens’ allowance” is decisive in two ways: “It must finally be ensured that everyone who can work has to work.”
Söder generally no longer demands civil allowance for Ukrainians
In addition, Söder advocated that the Ukrainians living in Germany should no longer receive civil allowance, “preferably not only those who will come in the future, but everyone”. In their coalition agreement, the Union and the SPD had agreed that only new Ukrainians should no longer receive citizens. Söder justified his new demand with the new US trade tariffs. This changes the economic situation and the coalition needs an “update that is economically necessary”.
