In an attack on Sochi on the Black Sea, an oil refinery near the airport caught fire. Ukraine is committed to the drone attack.

According to Russian authorities, a Ukrainian drone attack has triggered a fire in a oil camp near the Black Sea bathing resort of Sochi. Power parts of the missiles had hit an oil tank and triggered the fire, said the governor of the Krasnodar region, Wenjamin Kondratjew, on Sunday in the Telegram online service. According to the authorities, nobody was injured.



According to the Rosawjatsja, air traffic via Sochi was briefly stopped. 127 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the flames, regional governor Kondratjew continued. Flames and density, black clouds of smoke were seen on pictures spread in online networks.

Ukraine does not comment on the attack on Sochi

Ukrainian bodies initially gave no information on the attack on Sochi. However, the government in Kiev had announced that in response to increased Russian attacks with dozens of killed civilians, to strengthen its air strikes in Russian territory.

Ukraine has been attacking Russian oil and gas stores regularly since the beginning of the large-scale Russian attack in February 2022. Drone attacks on the more than 500 kilometers away from the border, where the Winter Olympics had taken place in 2014, are comparatively rare. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, three Ukrainian drones in the region around the port city of St. Petersburg were also intercepted.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported Russian attacks to the south and the northeast of the country. According to Prime Minister Julia Swryrydenko, seven people were injured in a rocket attack on a residential area in Mykolajiw in South Ukrain. Three other people were injured in the Northeast Tekrainian border region Charkiw. Local authorities also reported injuries in the southern regions of Saporischschja and Cherson.
