Only 16 percent would definitely fight for Germany

Ukraine has been defending itself in a brutal war against Russia since 2022, and defense spending is also increasing in Germany. But who would be really ready to fight?
In the event of a defense, only about one sixth for Germany without hesitation would use a weapon. “In any case” 16 percent are ready, another 22 percent would “probably” do this. This is the result of a survey by the Forsa opinion research institute for the editorial network Germany.
The clear majority of 59 percent, on the other hand, would be “probably not” or not at all willing to defend Germany with the weapon in the event of a military attack. In women, this proportion is even 72 percent.
At the same time, more than one in four (27 percent) considers it very or more likely that Germany will be attacked militarily over the next five years.
