Some use them very naturally, others go to the mind: special characters for gender language. The federal government is committed.
The federal government does not use words with gender stars. This was explained by a spokesman for the Digital Ministry in Berlin on request in the government press conference. The recommendations of the German Spelling Council are decisive.
“This set of rules stipulates that gender -friendly language is understandable, readable, readable, also with regard to accessibility and reading software and that it is grammatically correct, as well as uniqueness and legal certainty,” said the spokesman. “So this does not provide for any special characters.”
Minister of Culture Wolfram Weimer (independent) had said the “Bild am Sonntag”: “In the Chancellery, letters, emails and notes are not intended.” Forced gender does not reflect how the majority speak in Germany. Rather, gender deepen a split of society.
New rules since the beginning of July
Don’t you want to miss anything from the star?
Personally, competent and entertaining: Editor -in -chief Gregor Peter Schmitz sends you the most important content from the star-Credaction and arranges what Germany talks about.
A new rules of the Council for German spelling has been in effect since the beginning of July. It applies to schools and public administration. New is a section of special characters in words that are used by supporters of a gender -sensitive language. “These symbols of words are not part of the core of the German orthography,” it says.
In various cases, their setting could lead to grammatical follow -up problems that have not yet been clarified. However, the development of the entire area has not yet been completed and is being observed.
