Moscow: No longer waiver of land -based atomic rockets

In a first term in 2019, US President Trump announced the Inf-Treaty to do without land-based atomic short and medium-range missiles. Moscow is no longer bound by it.

After the United States exit the contract for the waiver of land-based atomic short and medium-range missiles, Russia is no longer officially adhering to the disarmament agreement. The Foreign Ministry in Moscow declared a moratorium with which Russia claimed to continue to meet the agreement since 2019 even after the US exit. The situation develops in such a way that land-based atomic short and medium-range missiles from US production are stationed in Europe, it was said.

Previously, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin had already threatened that Russia would react “mirror-friendly” to the stationing of US rockets planned for 2026. The weapons for this were shortly before the completion, it said a year ago from the Kremlin.

Disconditional contract was no longer true after the US exit

The INF contract for a ban on these weapons is no longer valid after the United States’ termination in 2019. According to Putin, Russia had so far imposed a moratorium and continued to adhere to the agreements. The United States, on the other hand, has been complaining about Russian violations of the contract for a long time.

The IF Treaty, who was then Kremlin chief Mikhail Gorbachev and US President Ronald Reagan, provided for the abolition of all land-supported ballistic rockets and marching aircraft with a shorter range of 500 to 1000 kilometers and with an average range of 1000 to 5500 kilometers.

Germany sees danger from Russian rockets

In an explanation of the Bundeswehr on the Russian approach, it was said that Russia had, among other things, stationed nuclear-weapon-capable Iskander missiles in the Kaliningrad exclave and could also meet German cities with its medium-range weapons. The plans are an answer to this and served the deterrent.

Among the US weapons for Germany are said to be Tomahawk’s type, which can also be technically equipped with nuclear, air defense rockets of the SM-6 and newly developed hyperschall weapons, which are supposed to continue to range than previously stationed land systems.
