The head of government is said to be all about: the complete occupation of the Gaza Strip. That carries many risks. He will have to convince the army to be worth it.
According to media reports, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have decided to fully take the Gaza Strip. For this he wanted to get backing the cabinet and military leadership in the next few days, he is said to have said to be ministers in his cabinet. The news portal “Ynetews.com” quoted an official who is close to him with the words: “The cubes have fallen – we intend to completely fill the Gaza Strip.”
Netanyahu himself had previously said so much that he would be called up the security cabinet this week to decide on the further procedure in the sealed and large -scale coastal strip on the Mediterranean. In a video message on Sunday, he had shown that the Islamist Hamas, who had torn power there 18 years ago, was not ready to negotiate the solution to the negotiation.
The Israeli armed forces are currently checking around 75 percent of the area of the coastal area, which is roughly as large as Munich. The hostages are suspected in those parts into which the Israeli military has not yet reached and that are still controlled by Hamas.
Israel has been warning against Hamas for almost 22 months after the Palestinian terrorist organization, together with its allies on October 7, 2023, killed more than 1,200 people in southern Israel and deported another 250 as hostages into the Gaza strip.
According to Israeli assessment, there are currently 50 hostages in the violence of Hamas, 20 of which are still alive. For months of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas to bring about a ceasefire and get the last hostages cleared, there was no result.
Army leading is critical of complete crew
In the past, the Israeli military has spoken out against a complete crew of the Gaza Strip. The “Times of Israel” described the concerns of the army leadership. Accordingly, hostages could also be endangered and killed if Israeli troops should come too close to the places of their captivity.
According to the media reports, Netanyahu would now take this risk. “There will also be military operations in areas where hostages are recorded,” said “Ynetews” the official. “If the chief of staff (Ejal Zamir) does not agree, then he should step down.”
So far, the ministers from the right -wing extremist and ultra -religious parties in the government coalition had called for the full use of the Gaza Strip. They also demand the deportation of the Palestinian population to other countries and the establishment of Jewish settlements in the coastal strip.
According to media reports, Zamir is said to have had violent discussions with the ultra -right ministers at last meetings of the security cabinet. Netanyahu is said to have held back without comment.
