A former employee of AfD politician Maximilian Krah is suspected of spy for China. With his alleged accomplice, he now has to answer to court in Dresden.

A former employee of the then AfD European Member Maximilian Krah has to answer for a Chinese secret service in court for agent activity. The process begins on Tuesday (9.30 a.m.) at the Dresden Higher Regional Court. There is also a suspected accomplice on the dock.

Suspected agent worked in the EU Parliament

As early as 2002, the German Jian G. is said to have been an employee of a Chinese secret service, according to the prosecutor’s prosecutor. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office had him arrested in Dresden in April 2024. It accuses him of a particularly severe case of intelligence agent activity.

As an assistant to Krah’s MP in the European Parliament, he collected information from September 2019 until his arrest and sometimes passed on to Chinese bodies, sometimes confidential documents.

He is said to have procured more than 500 documents, “including some that the European Parliament had classified as particularly sensitive”. He also compiled personal information about AfD leadership staff and spied out Chinese dissidents.

Shortly after the arrest, the highest indictment of Germany’s office from G. and Krah had been searched in the European Parliament in Brussels. In doing so, she emphasized that the search by Krah’s offices was “a measure among witnesses”.

From 2019 to 2025, Krah was a member of the European Parliament and member of the committees for international trade, but also in the sub -committees for human rights as well as security and defense. He was also part of the delegation for relationships with the USA. In the Bundestag election in February, he won the direct mandate in the Chemnitz Umland constituency – Erzgebirge district II and is now a member of the Bundestag.

Co -accused worked at Leipzig Airport

The Chinese Jaqi X is also accused of being accused. The investigators accuse the accused. She worked for a logistics service company at Leipzig/Halle Airport and is said to have repeatedly sent G. data about flights, freight and passengers. It was primarily about the transport of armaments and people with connections to a German armaments company.

X. was arrested in September last year. It is also suspicious of secret service agent activity for a Chinese secret service.

Beijing rejected allegations of espionage

After the accusation of G. and X. last April, China rejected the allegations. The so -called theory of a threat of Chinese spies was fictitious and maliciously, said foreign office spokesman Guo Jiakun in Beijing at the time.

In the process, the state protection senate scheduled 13 negotiation dates by the end of September.
