At the end of the week, an ultimatum of US President Trump on Russia expires to a ceasefire in Ukraine. Shortly before, he was talking to the Ukrainian President Selenskyj.
Before visiting the US specialist Steve Witkoff in Moscow, Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj and his American colleague Donald Trump voted up their positions. “Of course we also talked about sanctions against Russia. His economy falls back, and therefore Moscow is so sensitive to the (sanction) prospects and the determination of President Trump,” wrote Selenskyj in social networks.
He also informed Trump about the current situation in Ukraine. “President Trump has been informed about the Russian blows on Kiev and our other cities and municipalities,” said Selenskyj.
Trump’s envoy to discussions in Moscow expected
Witkoff is expected in Moscow in the middle of this week – according to Kremlin, a meeting with President Vladimir Putin is possible. A ultimatum directed by Trump to the Kremlin is currently running to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
If the deadline expires without a result – according to Trump, it started last Tuesday and runs for ten days – the US President wants to impose punitive measures. These should also be directed against states that buy Russian oil and gas to make Moscow more difficult to finance the war. However, a steering of Putin is extremely unlikely.
Ukraine has been fighting against the Russian invasion with Western help for more than three years.
