US committee calls for Epstein files and invites Clinton’s

In Washington, the dispute over the processing of the Epstein affair comes to a head. A republican committee demands files – and at the same time targets an ex -president.

The control committee in the US House of Representatives has requested the approval of investigative documents in the Epstein affair and pre-charged several high-ranking ex-office carriers. The committee published letters to a number of people, including US Justice Minister Pam Bondi, former President Bill Clinton and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The control committee in the US House of Representatives currently led by the Republicans has far-reaching powers and can initiate investigations. Hillary Clinton received a summons for October 9 from the committee to say there. Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear on October 14th. Justice Minister Bondi was asked to release files by August 19, insofar as a court approved. The aim is to advance the case around the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019, said in the letters.

US media: Listen not public

A number of other ex -Justice Minister – including Jeff Sessions and Merrick Garland – as well as the former FBI directors Robert Mueller and James Comey were also invited. According to US media, they are not public hearings.

Epstein had systematically abused minors for many years. In 2019 he committed suicide in his prison cell at the age of 66. His long -time confidante Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in building up a ring for the sexual abuse of girls in 2022.

Epstein affair puts Trump under pressure

In parts of the US company, Epstein’s death caused wild speculation because he maintained the best contacts in the American high society. Prominent and billionaires went in and out of him. US President Donald Trump also spent time with Epstein, as several party videos show. The Republican had promised to open the Epstein files in the election campaign. Because he has not yet done this, the pressure grows – also from his own ranks.

In the past few weeks, Trump had tried to draw attention to one of his predecessors, Bill Clinton. A Clinton spokesman already let in 2019 know that the Democrat had had no contact with Epstein for more than a decade and knew nothing about his crime.

According to a report by the “Wall Street Journal”, in a birthday album on Epstein’s 50th birthday, in addition to a letter of congratulation from Trump, one of Clinton was also included. For his part, Trump denied being the author. According to “WSJ”, the Clinton spokesman rejected a comment and referred to his previous statement.
