Dobrindt announces extension of border controls

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt plans to extend border controls and further deportations – also to Afghanistan and Syria.

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) wants to extend the temporary controls at all German national borders again.

“We will continue to maintain the border controls,” he said in “Table.Today” published on Thursday. There will be both controls and rejections beyond September.

At the beginning of May, Dobrindt ordered the tightened border controls shortly after taking office. He also instructed the rejection of asylum seekers.

Further deportation fees are planned

Further deportations are also currently being carried out. “We managed to organize a flight to Afghanistan in which the most severe offenders have been deported. That cannot remain a one -time measure,” said Dobrindt. The federal government is now working on organizing further deportation fees to Afghanistan and Syria.

Germany had departed for the second time since the Radical Islamic Taliban took over in 2021 asylum seekers to Afghanistan. According to Dobrindt, the 81 people were “severe and most severe offenders”. There was a first flight in August 2024.
